PFAHLER HOOPS MONTANA

Our Vision: Pfahler Hoops strives to advance every level of basketball player into an outstanding competitor, who can effectively contribute and play an important role in the success of their high school program. We focus on discipline, skill and fundamentals, to help prepare student athletes for playing collegiate level basketball, if desired.

Our Mission : To teach foundational basketball skills; to create competitive, elite basketball players. To practice and compete with a clear focus and dedication to the sport of basketball. To instill a strong work ethic and respect for oneself and others. To develop strong leaders on and off the court, with hopes that they carry these values with them throughout their life.

Vanessa Stavish

Vanessa Stavish was born and raised in Frenchtown, Montana. She played basketball collegiately at Montana State University Billings, where she earned her teaching degree. Vanessa has always been a leader and someone who loves to learn. Following undergrad, she decided to pursue her Masters of Educational Leadership from Rocky Mountain College. She is currently a math teacher at Hamilton High School in Hamilton, Montana. She has coached high school basketball for the past 6 years and will be coaching her first season as the head varsity girls’ basketball coach at Hamilton High. She has been with Pfahler Hoops for two seasons now. Her knowledge of the game and mentorship to young women is highly valued. When Vanessa isn’t coaching basketball she enjoys going hiking, spending time with her friends and family, working out and going to sporting events!

Alyssa Pfahler

Alyssa Pfahler was raised in Monroe, Washington and went on to play collegiately at the University of Montana where she earned her degree in Health and Human Performance. She then went on and played one season professionally in Romania. There, she met her husband Steven, and they have 3 beautiful children and another on the way. Together they built Pfahler Sports Specific, a 22,000 sq. foot specialized training facility. One half of this facility is strictly dedicated to basketball. She is passionate about her work and cares deeply for her athletes.  Alyssa lives her life by example and is an excellent role model and inspiration to many. Pfahler Hoops Montana was established in 2017, and teams travel primarily to recruiting tournaments in the pacific northwest. Since its establishment, Pfahler Hoops has guided 17 players to the collegiate level. When Alyssa isn’t coaching or training athletes from Minis to Highschoolers, she enjoys spending time with her family, outdoor activities, working out and listening to live music.

Alyssa and Vanessa both played on AAU travel teams during their high school/middle school days. Together, they aspire to give Montana girls the same opportunity. Their coaching styles are very similar, and they coach players with intensity. They see potential in every player and mentor each individual to help them succeed in reaching their goals and highest capability. Both Alyssa and Vanessa believe that team building activities off the court are crucial for bonding relationships with players and is one of their favorite parts of being a coach. Making these memories with the girls is priceless.

WHAT DO THE PLAYERS AND PARENTS SAY ABOUT US?

Emily McElmurry

Eastern Washington University

Being a part of Pfahler Hoops has been an incredible experience. Alyssa and the coaching staff genuinely care about the athletes, focusing on their development for the next level rather than just the next game. I cherished the opportunity to learn from Alyssa, connect with amazing teammates, and deepen my understanding of the game. I hope everyone can have such a positive and rewarding AAU experience!
